After you have paid off your advance credit you can borrow a portion of your credit limit. This is known as your available credit. The way you pay off this advance credit will determine how much you can borrow in the future. You can also repay your balance. This is the amount that you owe lender at any given time. Each card issuer offers its own method of compensating the outstanding balance.
Interest-free grace period
The grace period that interest is free for credit cards refers to the time between the date of your statement and the end the billing cycle. It's the time when interest will not be charged on purchases you make with the card. The credit card grace period applies only to new purchases. It doesn't apply to cash advances and balance transfers. Once you start accruing interest on these purchases, the grace period is over, and you'll have to pay off your balance in full.
There are different interest-free grace periods for credit cards. It's best to check your agreement to find out the exact length of your grace period.

Rate of interest on balance carried over
A credit card with a carry-over balance from a previous billing cycle will most likely result in an interest charge. This interest rate is calculated on a daily basis. Calculating the interest rates is done using the average daily balance of a billing period.
The grace period will end and you will have to pay interest on any balance you carry over. The interest accrues each day until you clear the balance in full. This is sometimes called trailing or residual interest. It applies only to balances carried over from one billing period to the next. The interest will stop once you pay off your statement balance in full.
Late fees
Late fees make a lot of money for credit card companies. These fees could be up to 24 per cent of your total bill and can be disproportionately costly for economically vulnerable consumers. Your card issuer may be able to negotiate a reduced fee for good behaviour. To avoid late fees, pay your bills promptly. You can also make automatic payments through your bank, card issuer or credit union.
If you are late on a payment, please call the customer care number on the back. You can also write a letter explaining the situation if you are unable to contact customer service. Some cardholders also have had success sending secure messages online.

There are several payment options
Consumers and businesses have a variety of payment options for credit cards. Online sellers of products or services may find it helpful to have several payment options. For businesses that offer recurring products and services, recurring billing is an option. This type billing can be used by all credit card companies.
